Children Attendants Roles

Flower Girl
The flower girl is usually an extra to your bridesmaids, and traditionally walks in front of the bride on the way down the aisle at the start of the ceremony. As her name suggests, she carries a flower girl basket and scatters rose petals on the ground for you to walk through. However, many facilities/churches do not permit this due to the real possibility of someone slipping on dropped petals, flower girls now often carry a basket of posies. Or instead she can carry a basket of confetti or petals during the ceremony, and then distribute it outside at the end of the service.A flower girl is usually a young child, often dressed in a more youthful version of the bridesmaids’ and many times even wearing a flower girl veil.
Having young children in the wedding party is a popular idea that can delight the guests. However, if your flower girl and ring bearer are very young then it may be wise to allow her to make her entrance with you and then sit with her parents during the ceremony and rejoin you afterwards for the recessional line.

Ring Bearer
The role of the ring bearer is quite simple. He/she carries the ring or rings, often on a ring bearer pillow, to be presented during the ceremony. Usually walks with the flower girl down the aisle. The ring bearer is usually a child and it is a perfect role to bestow on your own child/children, to directly involve them in your ceremony. He/she can be dressed to match your other attendants or have a completely individual outfit to make them stand out. Like a satin or velvet suit if a boy, if a girl a pretty dress similarly in colors coordinating with bridesmaids gowns.

Children of a previous marriage
In remarriage including the children is a must so they won’t feel left out of their parents lives. There are many other tasks that may be assumed by special children in the ceremony. A young son may escort his mother down the aisle. A child may say a prayer or do a reading during the ceremony. Young men can certainly fill the role of seating ushers at the ceremony. A child who is musically talented child may be asked to play or sing. A child may be put in charge of the guest book at the reception. Children of either sex might be unity candle lighters for the ceremony. As you can see there are a number of tasks those children of various ages may be involved with for a wedding.
